All Saints Church of England is an Anglo-Saxon based church. In the 12th century an Augustinian priory stood close by but nothing survives of it today. Nearby on Loveden Hill is a large and important Anglo-Saxon cemetery, perhaps the largest pagan cemetery in the country.

This semicircular stair projection was built in the Anglo-Saxon time as well as some windows and parts of the nave.
