NAME: Brock, Martha Frances (m. Jacob Duckett)

OBIT: [died 7 Sep 1909, Hamilton County, Iowa]

PIONEER ANSWERS DEATH SUMMONS

Mrs. Jacob Duckett of this city, one of the pioneer settlers of Hamilton county, passed away early this morning of heart trouble, with which she had been afflicted the past several years. She was 65 years of age. Her last illness was of only a few days duration and she breathed her last at the home of her daughter, Mrs. L. Scott, near Stratford, whither she had gone for a visit about two weeks ago. Deceased came here with her parents from McClean county, Illinois, in the year 1856, when settlers were few and railroads were unknown in this part of the country. She grew to womanhood here and was married to Jacob Duckett. With the exception of two years spent in Des Moines, they have lived in Hamilton county. The husband and seven children, six girls and one son survive. Deceased also leaves three brothers and two sisters to mourn her death.
No funeral arrangements have yet been made, but the interment will take place in the Saratoga cemetery south of town. The family resided on a farm in that vicinity for many years and have relatives buried there.
