MRS. ELMER LANE PASSED AWAY
  Mrs. Elmer Lane, 71 years of age, who has been ill for several months and a patient at the Lutheran Hospital in Moline for the past two months, passed away early Sunday morning.
 Betsey Cox was born August 4, 1875 in Victor Township, the daughter of Joseph and Alice Cox. She grew to womanhood there and was married to Elmer Lane on Feb. 9, 1897. The couple made their home in the Shabbona community their entire married life. They celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary Feb. 9, 1947.
 Her death is mourned by her husband and four children, Mrs. Ellen Cheney of Ottawa, Mrs. Wilbur Thatcher of Springfield, John and Everett of Shabbona; a sister, Mrs. Alice Lane of Eagle Grove, Iowa, a brother, Joseph Weathers of Anthon, Ia. six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
 Her father and mother, three brothers and two sisters have preceded her in death.
 Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Thorsen Funeral Home. Rev. Wesley McKelvey of the Waterman Methodist church officiated. Mrs. Hazel Clapsaddle sang two beautiful solos, with Mrs. Watne at the piano. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetry.
 Out of town friends attended from DeKalb, Maple Park, St. Charles, Geneva, Sandwich, Ottawa, Earlville, Hinckley, Waterman. Relatives present from afar were Mr. and Mrs. Charles Lane of Eagle Grove, Iowa and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Galvin of Anthon, Iowa.
