Cedar Falls, IA -- Memorial services for Vern R. Davis, age 67, of 517 Orchard Drive, Cedar Falls, Iowa, will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, 25 Feb 1982, at Grace Methodist Church, Waterloo, Iowa, with burial in Elmwood Cemetery, Waterloo, Black Hawk Co., Iowa.
Mr. Davis died Friday, 19 Feb 1982, at Hilo, Hawaii, Hawaii.
Mr. Davis was born 17 Jul 1914, at Aredale, Butler Co., Iowa, son of Fred Nelson and Fleeta Fern (Miller) Davis. He married Evelyn Alice Thompson 22 Nov 1936, at Galena, Jo Daviess Co., Illinois.
He was a vetern of World War II, serving in the Army in the European Theater. He was also a prisoner of war.
Mr. Davis formerly owned and operated the Conoco station at East Fifth and Franklin Streets. He was part-owner of the Boatyard. He retired from Chamberlain Manufacturing in 1977.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Robert Vern of 2718 Delane Ave., Waterloo, Iowa, Gary Alan of 104 Ardis, Hudson, Iowa, and Craig B. Davis of 3039 Carter Circle, Dever, Colorado; eight grandchildren, Christopher Michael, Melinda Christine, and Steven Ashley Davis of Waterloo, Iowa, Pennelope Lynn and Travis Brent Davis of Hudson, Iowa, and Tiffany Mary, Benjamin R. and Tyler Wolf Davis of Denver, Colorado; and his stepmother, Mrs. Sadie Pearl (Reagan) Davis of Aredale, Iowa.
Mr. Davis was preceded in death by his parents, Fred Nelson and Fleeta Fern (Miller) Davis; and a granddaughter, Jennifer Michaele Davis.
There will be military rites by Becker Chapman Post 138 of the American Legion.
Memorials may be given to the Heart Fund.
There will be no visitation. The body was cremated. Oppold Funeral Home of Waterloo, Iowa, is in charge of local arrangements.
