Fred Van Auken Called By Death
 Fred Van Auken, a life long resident of this community died Sunday afternoon at Bellevue hospital, Muscatine, where he had been a patient several weeks.
 He was born near Columbus Junction, March 8, 1884, the 3rd son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Van Auken.
 He is survived by five sons and six daughters, Glen Van Auken, Washington, Iowa; Mrs. Everett Thompson, Ottumwa; Howard, Charles, Merle and Raymond Van Auken and Mrs. Roy Thompson, Mrs. Orville Hills, Mrs. Gene Duncan, Mrs. Richard Fuller and Shirley Van Auken all of Columbus Junction.
 Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, July 16, at the Stephens Funeral home and were conducted by the Rev. J. B. Pooley.
 The flowers were in charge of Mrs. Jack Mewhirter, Mrs. Holli Thompson, Mrs. John Warren and Beverly Jones.
 Mrs. B. O. Roundy and Mrs. Robert Hanft, accompanied by Mrs. John Morrison sang: "In The Garden" and "The Old Rugged Cross."
 Casket bearers were: Bert Wolfe, H. P. Edmondson, Clyde Carey, Arthur Soloman, Addison Hills and John Wall.
 Interment at Columbus City.
